Privacy, in plain words
The safest way to protect a child's information is not to hold it. So this site is built around holding as little as it possibly can, and what follows is the whole of it — not a summary of a longer document kept somewhere else.
The one rule everything else follows from
The account belongs to a grown-up. A child never signs up, never signs in, and never has an email address here. A child is a profile inside an adult's account, and that profile holds a display name the family chose, a grade, and a colour. That is all of it.
What we hold
| What | About whom | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address | the adult | To sign you in, and to send a link if you forget your password. Nothing else is ever sent to it. |
| Your name | the adult | So the site can address you. A first name is plenty. |
| Your password, hashed | the adult | Argon2id. It cannot be read back, by us or by anybody who steals the database. |
| A display name for each child | each child | So a child can find their own profile. A first name, a nickname, anything the family likes. |
| A grade for each child | each child | The only thing the site actually uses: it chooses the subjects, the lesson length and how things are explained. |
| A colour for each child | each child | So a child who cannot read yet can still find their own profile. |
What we never ask for
- a child's surname
- a child's date of birth or age in years
- a child's email address or phone number
- a child's school, class or teacher
- a photograph, recording or anything a child uploads
- a child's location, precise or approximate
- anything a child types, because there is nowhere for a child to type
Not "we ask but do not share" — we do not ask. There is no field for it, so there is nothing to leak, sell, lose or be compelled to hand over.
The guard rails
- No account for a child
- Only an adult can create one. A child uses a profile inside it and never signs in separately.
- Nothing for a child to post
- No comments, no messages, no uploads, no profile text a stranger could read. There is no way for one child to reach another, because there is no mechanism at all.
- No advertising, ever
- No ad network, no sponsored lessons, and no profiling. The page a child sees is decided by their grade and nothing else.
- No third-party tracking
- No analytics, no pixels, no social buttons. The site loads nothing from anybody else except a web font.
- Nothing designed to hook
- No streaks, no badges, no notifications, no autoplay into the next thing. A lesson ends and the site stops.
- You can see it all, and delete it
- Everything stored about your family is on one page, downloadable, and deletable in one action that takes effect at once.
- Deleted means gone
- A deletion is a real delete, not a flag. Removing a child profile removes it; closing an account removes the lot.
Your rights, and how to use them
See everything
Download the file from your account page. It is everything, immediately, without asking anybody.
Change or remove a child
On your account page. Removing a profile deletes it — it is not hidden, archived or kept for a cooling-off period.
Delete the lot
Closing your account removes it and every profile on it in one action, at once.
Ask us anything
Write to privacy@learningbrains.ai and a person will answer.
Children under 13
In the United States, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act governs collecting personal information from children under 13. This site is designed so that it does not collect any: a child has no account, no email address, and nothing they can type or upload. A display name chosen by a family — which may be a nickname — and a grade are the only things attached to a child, and they are entered by the adult who holds the account after confirming they are the parent, carer or teacher.
If you believe a child's information has reached us some other way, write to privacy@learningbrains.ai and we will delete it and tell you that we have.
Everybody else
No advertising network, no analytics, no tracking pixels, no social buttons and no third-party scripts. The only thing this site loads from anywhere else is a web font. Nothing about you or your family is sold, rented or shared for anybody's marketing, including ours.
If this changes
The version is at the top of this page. If what you agreed to changes, you will be asked again rather than assumed to have agreed — the old consent stops counting.
